REVOLUTIONARY NEW SYSTEM FOR PROFESSIONAL NAVIGATION
Datema Delfzijl B.V. has a global first: on Tuesday 9 June it will launch a nautical revolution in the field of maritime navigation during the opening day of Nor-Shipping in Oslo. Navigation in commercial shipping will never be the same. The nautical specialists from Delfzijl, the Netherlands, have succeeded in developing the first pay-as-you-sail principle. The keywords for this innovation are safety and efficiency.
Unlike all current "pre-paid" ENC distribution systems, participating ships will always have all globally available ENCs and relevant permits in advance through ENCTrack. Only when a specific ENC is used will it be registered and charged for. Datema has developed a unique tracking system for this purpose on the basis of the Iridium network.
The revolutionary technology means that ENCTrack is the most flexible and efficient ENC distribution system in the world. Voyage planning is always safe and available. From now on, sudden route changes due to external circumstances, such as piracy, extreme weather conditions or other threats, will always be possible: the system automatically follows every course and course change. No further physical intervention by the user is required.
ENCTrack is compatible with any available ECDIS-system and already complies with worldwide ECDIS 2012 regulations.
The system has been tested extensively within a pilot project with ships of companies such as Koninklijke Wagenborg and Broere Shipping.
‘Managing electronic charts is becoming an increasingly cumbersome task in our company. With ENCTrack we are confident that we always have the right charts. The introduction of this idea caused quite a stir in the company - could this really be done?’ Superintendent Wagenborg
ENCTrack is immediately available via the Sales Department of Datema, which can be contacted via digital@datema.nl
