Nautical chart management. Easier fleet Management with ENC Track by Datema
Anyone in fleet management who is trying to adopt ECDIS for their fleet struggle with the same dilemma: how do you manage the ENC outfits of your vessels? Do you buy a world folio so you will never have to worry again about ordering charts, or do you select only the charts necessary for each specific voyage plan, resulting in many chart-orders, subsequent purchase orders, invoices etc. And do you allow the vessels to order charts themselves, or does every order have to be approved by the office? The result of this struggle is that very often the vessel does not have the charts it needs, while it is also possible that the shipowner pays a substantial fee for a standard folio of which only half is used. If the ship does not have the charts it needs, it runs a major safety risk.
